This is really quick and simple to make. You will need:
flour – 1 cup
water – 1 cup
salt – 1/2 cup
cooking oil – 1 tablespoon
cream of tartar – 1 tablespoon
These are the basics but feel free to add in any food colouring, essential oils etc that you desire (cocoa powder makes the most delicious chocolate Playdough!). I used to add lavender essential oil to the Playdough I made for my Reception class and it was always a lovely calm table, plus the classroom smelt divine! The Playdough in the picture above is the amount made from using 1 tea mug of flour so double up as required.
Put all ingredients – including any colouring, oils etc into a saucepan, mix well.
Cook the dough whilst continuing to stir.
It will get harder to stir and become a ball to which all the sticky dough will attach itself thus leaving the saucepan clear.
Drop the ball onto a chopping board and knead- beware of little fingers as it will be hot at this point.
The Playdough is then ready to use.
I store mine in an airtight container which means it can be used many times.
Enjoy!
